Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear guests,
I cordially welcome the
participants and guests of the World University Chess
Championship to our Kuznetsk Land.
I consider it highly
symbolic, that the 10th Championship is to take
place in the year of the 65th Anniversary of
Kemerovo Region. It is a great honor and responsibility for
all citizens of Kuzbass, as our land is not only an
industrial region of the Russian Federation with dynamically
developing “giants” of machinery, coal, metal, and chemical
industries. This is also a region where the development of
sports is our utmost concern, and great attention is paid to
the promotion of the healthy way of life.
We are making every effort
to maintain the highest standards of the Championship. We
have made considerable investments in the preparation of the
city of Novokuznetsk to welcome the best young chess players
of the planet and amateurs of chess from Russia and
overseas.
I hope that the
Championship will become a real festival of sports, it will
add to the establishment of friendly links between the
participant countries. It will undoubtedly make
unforgettable impressions on all the participants.
